UTM: Who are you?

MGT: My name is Courtney Calhoun and I'm a wife, mother of 4 and serial entrepreneur who loves helping women succeed.

UTM: How did Moms Grind Too get started?

MGT: Moms Grind Too first came to life 4 years ago. I was laying in the bed slowly drifting off when God gave me the vision. I would always hear about men and women being on their grind, but never moms, so that's where the name Moms Grind Too came to life. I remember jumping out of bed and grabbing a piece of paper drawing out how the logo would look, and it was on from there. I hosted my first women's empowerment event "The Flawless Boss Tea Party" in July 2018 and it was a huge success, so from there I kept going.

UTM: What was your biggest challenge you faced starting your business and how did you overcome it?

MGT: My biggest challenge starting this business was/is putting myself on a stage in a room of over 100 people. I've always had a fear of public speaking, but I overcome that fear every time I get on that stage at every event.

UTM: What is one of your proudest moments as an entrepreneur?

MGT: One of my proudest moments would have to be when we gave our first $500 grant to a women owned business. Seeing the look on her face when she realized that she was the winner was a moment I will always remember.

UTM: Do you believe, moms can have it all? Explain why.

MGT: I do believe moms can have it all with the right support system. Being raised in a single mother household, and also once being a single mother, I found it very difficult to make ends meet, let alone chase my dreams. I'm not saying it's impossible to do on your own but having a solid support system would definitely get you to your destination faster.

UTM: As a mom with her own business, how do you prevent burnout?

MGT: This has been a trying year for me with a new baby and running two businesses. Working full time, taking care of home and being a full-time entrepreneur can create burnouts without the proper systems in place. For the new year, I will be implementing more self-care, and doing more of the things that make me happy. Like reading, shopping, or taking a long hot bath. I will be intentional with my overall health in 2022.

UTM: What are some upcoming events you have planned?

MGT: My next upcoming event is the "Black Event", more details for this will be available soon.

UTM: Where can people find you?

MGT: People can find me on Facebook/Instagram at @momsgrindtoo and on our website www.momsgrindtoo.com
